Michael James Collins was tradically taken from us in the early hours of Sunday 2nd March 2008. Michael sadly took his own life which we all believe was accidental as Michael would not want to leave his family and friends. Michael thought the world of his family and friends, and his family and friends thought the world of Michael.
Michael was not alone at the time of his death; his Mam Valerie was at his side holding him as he peacefully fell asleep. Paramedics could not do anything to revive Michael. He was gone.
Michael's Dad James (Jimmy) and Brother Anthony were in London at the time Michael died. Anthony was just about to start work on Nightshift as the news broke. His Dad and Anthony met up in London and travelled 300 miles back home to Newcastle, within the 5 hours it took them; not a word was spoken. They went straight to Newcastle General Hospital to be with the family.
Michael James was a loving Son to James (Jimmy) and Valerie, a devoted Dad to Michael and Lauren, a dearly loved Brother to Sharon and Anthony, Brother-in-law to Ros, a special and adored Uncle to Gemma and a true friend to all. Michael was also a much loved Nephew and Cousin.
All the family would like to thank everyone who attended Michaels funeral, especially to all his work colleagues and friends who travelled from across the UK to Newcastle to say their last goodbye. The family would also like to thank everyone for their beautiful floral tributes, cards and support that they received during the time of their sad loss.
And finally they would like to thank David Gray from St Mary Magdalene Church in Longbenton for the lovely service.
Michael will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

You were my Angel,
But angels were too few.
God needed Angels,
And so he sent for you.
For Tuesday
Smile of an Angel,
With a twinkle in your eye.
I’ll remember you forever,
Only for now, I’ll say goodbye.
For Wednesday
Laughter came so easy,
To someone with your smile.
I was lucky to have known you,
And loved you for a while.
For Thursday
I borrowed you from heaven,
Now you must return.
Of all the lessons in my life,
This is the hardest one to learn.
For Friday
You would not want our tears,
To see you on your way.
You always said our laughter,
Got you through your day.
So farewell to our loved one,
Now a part of our past.
Your goodness and your teachings,
Forever they will last.
For Saturday
Your dimples and soft skin,
Oh! How we shall miss,
A small cupid mouth,
Poised for a kiss.
The smell of your hair,
Fresh from the bath.
We’d tickle your tummy,
And how you would laugh.
Don’t want to forget,
But have to move on.
Our most wonderful treasure,
Forever is gone.

I think I'll always miss you,
Hope that this will not be so.
